Like other sports, there are numerous cheerleading competitions that take place around the world. With that in mind, many teams invest a considerable amount of their money in travel expenses. During that time on the road, the cheerleaders would undoubtedly find ways to keep things entertaining.
While rest and relaxation are good options, who's to say that enjoying a few games isn't on the table? Perhaps they were playing "Truth or Dare" here, and the dare was to see if one of them could fit in the overhead compartment. While it's a bit of a squeeze, it certainly looks like there's enough room to get a person in there.
