23. The TV Glasses That Were Basically Goggles
Before flatscreens, some people tried “personal cinema” via TV glasses: two tiny screens mounted inside ski-goggle-like frames. It was the 1960s, and the idea was revolutionary—watch TV in private, no matter where you were. Sounds cool, right?
Unfortunately, the glasses were heavy, blurry, and required a power pack the size of a shoebox. You looked like RoboCop watching reruns. They overheated quickly, sometimes shocking wearers.
