The Beginning of Life

Nadia Suleman was born on July 11, 1975, in Fullerton, California. Her father, of Assyrian and Iraqi descent, later became a real estate agent. Her mother was a teacher from Lithuania, and Nadia was an only child. Although her parents showered her with love, she still seemed to crave a deeper connection with more people. Growing up in a small family may have sparked her desire for a large family later in life.

Being an only child gave Nadia a unique perspective. While the love from her parents was unconditional, she wasn’t completely fulfilled and longed to build broader relationships. This feeling likely led to bold choices later in her life. Her childhood experiences became the foundation for a strong attachment to the concept of family, eventually leading her to become “Octomom.”
