Aiguille du Midi (France)

The Aiguille du Midi is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif within the French Alps, and its name translates to “Needle of the Mid-Day.” It gets its name from the fact that the sun is at its peak, appearing like the hand of a clock, when viewed from Chamonix at noon. Near the summit, a short bridge offers stunning 360-degree views, making it a popular spot for tourists. Surprisingly, reaching the summit, which might seem like the exclusive domain of mountaineers, takes only 20 minutes by cable car from the town at the foot of the mountain.

Therefore, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery with just basic cold weather gear, without needing any special equipment. The summit hut also features a glass-floored observation deck, where, if you overcome your fear, you can experience the sensation of floating in the air.
