A Photobomber

Taking photos, especially on vacation, is a joy for many. It gives us the chance to capture the places we visit and the moments we experience. Landmarks like Lake Minnewanka aren’t everyday destinations, and in these often challenging times, such visits are even rarer. Photos from these trips become cherished memories that we treasure and share. Thankfully, photography also allows us to capture unexpected and humorous moments that would otherwise be forgotten.

One such unforgettable moment was captured in the famous “Crasher Squirrel” photo. In this picture, taken during a trip by Mellissa and Jackson Brandts, a squirrel unexpectedly jumped into the frame and literally stole the show. Instead of a romantic portrait of the couple against the picturesque backdrop of the lake, the curious squirrel captured the foreground. This hilarious photobomb moment resonated so much that it was published on National Geographic’s website in 2009. It raises the humorous question: Who is the real star of this photo?
