Myth: Muscle Cars Are Bad at Cornering

The classic image of an American muscle car is a vehicle that goes very fast in a straight line but falls over as soon as it sees a curve. This was certainly true in the 1960s and 70s. However, modern iterations of the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger have evolved into world-class sports cars. Today, these “muscle” cars frequently set blistering lap times at technical tracks like the Nürburgring.
Equipped with independent rear suspensions, magnetic dampers, and massive performance tires, modern muscle cars can handle corners just as well as many European imports. They’ve managed to keep their signature V8 rumble while gaining the agility of a true track machine. The days of “straight line only” performance are long gone.
