Online publications often use “clickbait” titles and stock photos to draw readers in, but they sometimes use images of real people without their permission. This strategy can backfire spectacularly if the person in the photo sees the ad.

A magazine used a photo of a random athlete to promote an article titled “He Tells All: How to Prepare for a Triathlon.” The man in the photo saw the post and commented that he had never spoken to the magazine and definitely wouldn’t be sharing any “tips” with them.
